RELEASED FEBRUARY 2010 DeLuca Honored with Hoye Award GLOVERSVILLE, NY — Barbara DeLuca of Nathan Littauer Hospital was recently recognized as the recipient of the Gregory R. Hoye Award, an honor that is given each year jointly by Mountain Valley Hospice and the Hoye family. Presented by The Honorable Polly Hoye, a representative of the Hoye family, and Donn Diefenbacher, Interim CEO of Mountain Valley Hospice, the Hoye Award is given to an individual who has demonstrated sensitive and compassionate care to the needs of patients and families dealing with life-limiting illnesses. DeLuca was chosen for the award after being nominated by the community. She wears many hats as she serves as a Respiratory Therapist with Nathan Littauer Hospital, the Fire Chief of Caroga Lake and also a volunteer and consultant for Mountain Valley Hospice. Other awards given at the November 4th Annual Appreciation Dinner for Mountain Valley Hospice included ‘Employee of the Year’ which went to Cynthia Sinchak RN and ‘Volunteer of the Year’ which was given to Nancy Purcell. Mountain Valley Hospice also honored the family of Butch Putman for their dedicated partnership in fundraising over the past 5 years and Gerald Buyce for over 20 years of volunteer efforts with Mountain Valley Hospice.
