Consider Volunteering

Mountain Valley Hospice relies upon the generous commitment of time and talents from community members to fulfill its mission. Becoming a hospice volunteer could be one of the most unique, exciting and rewarding experiences of your life. If you have time and energy to give, and if you have the following qualities, please consider volunteering.

Are you:
  • a responsible and emotionally mature individual?
  • a person who can maintain strict confidentiality with personal information?
  • able to accept people regardless of their backgrounds or beliefs?
  • skilled in listening?
  • sensitive to the needs of others in a stressful situation?
  • able to work as a member of a team and follow the plan of care?

Types of Volunteers

Family Service Volunteers provide companionship to patients who live at home and respite for their caregivers. They also provide companionship and socialization for patients residing in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and adult/group homes.

Hospice House Volunteers provide support to the staff caring for patients and families in our residence.

Office Volunteers provide clerical assistance for a variety of activities.

Bereavement Volunteers provide emotional support to grieving families during the 13-month period following the death of their loved one.

Administrative Volunteers provide assistance with board committees and annual activities, such as Walk for Hospice.

Specialty/Professional Volunteers provide assistance based on their unique interests or skills, such as licensed barbers/cosmetologists, certified massage therapists, reflexologists, healing touch practitioners, and those with abilities in maintenance, landscaping, translation/interpretation, graphic design, etc.

All volunteers receive comprehensive training by our interdisciplinary team and ongoing support and education.
